Today 15th August, is the feast of Assumption, where all the local boats set sail near the harbour to be blessed by the local priest.
The blessed man performs aspergillum, the act of flicking holy water at each boat.
This soon deteriorated into 'Chase the priest' as he accelerated and weaved between the speeding and increasingly frenzied masses.
Clearly some out there, needed far more blessing than others! More accustomed to 'assume the position' than salvation in Assumption me thinks!
I would surely have to carousel for hours around his boat, being sizzled by holy water until absolution was achieved. I think I'd still be marionetting his boat like a loon, this time next year.
*he picks up his beer and reflects 'isn't assumption wrong? doesn't assume, make an ass out of u and me?'
