Slieve Donard - Welcome to Northern Ireland

Slieve Donard

By far the nicest hike so far, meandering through forest and emerging to rocky pathway, a steep ascent to the wall.

From here it a sheltered hike up to the summit, wind blowing a gale, the views fell away, breathtaking and stunning.

A quick stop for summit photo, then back down to the pub.

What a brilliant and beautiful hike, not too challenging and definitely kind to the biker.

Ben Nevis!

Welcome to Scotland!

We we were lucky enough to be met by our great support team......

who not just prepared food and drinks but set two teams, one half way and....

one at the top. It was a absolute pleasure being in such good care, making the third ascent feel much easier.

The views were breathtaking and around the corner after the halfway point, we cross a frozen waterfall. Stunning and a test of metal, as you try not to look down.

This picture doesn’t do it justice, the drop is heart thumpingly high.

Continue on through varying step boulders, to shale, then into to snow. Quickly changing, like the weather. As the most descend, spirits did too. Slipping our way to the top, we push the last forty minutes of snow, grit(ours) and fears.

The obligatory toast at the summit, to our team member who passed away early this year, Adrian. He was with us in spirit, we were very emotional and he is so greatly missed. He would have been instrumental in getting us through this challenge.

Cancer is a indiscriminate wanker. Onwards to Ireland, two to go!

Scafell pike - climbing for Macmillan cancer care

Scafell pike was a challenging day. Loose gravel, shale and rocks makes for a slow but steady climb. This is compensated with breathtaking and stunning views, long stretches of rock step climbs and plenty of plateaus to catch your breath.

We met so many interesting characters, old and young, along the way. It certainly has been the most social climb so far, with a mixture of abilities and ages enjoying the ascent.

The descent is slow, as the terrain is challenging with all the moving rocks and easily misread footfalls.

But oh the views!

Onwards to Nevis!

Thank you!

Snowden!

Snowden was breathtaking and sometimes not for the right reasons. Loved the scenery, the camaraderie and laughs, as we found our way to the top.
Mist at high levels but thankfully no rain, it never failed to disappoint with stunning views and the promise of sunshine and the promise of tequila at the top.
There are three ways to climb to the summit, we chose the medium challenge of the pig track. It had its moments but proved enough of a balance for our mixed abilities, ensuring that laughter and humour prevailed for our tequila arrival at the summit.

The view was about 15feet so with not much to see, we descended quickly, tough on the knees but with clearer weather, more to see and enjoy.

The challenge begins!

At the summit, we take stock and enjoy the views, ten seconds later we depart for the descent.

A big thank you to Teri Hatcher for all your support and encouragement, we love you, your energy and positivity. See you for the next challenge!

Cocktails and canapés in Windsor great park.

A great time was had by all, raising over £10,000 for Macmillan cancer care.
150 people danced the night away enjoying cocktails and amazing food. All the spirits were high, not just meaning the large measured concoctions but the infectious music from our resident DJ and big band.

The wonderful Teri Hatcher took a break from her busy schedule to help boost the FUNd raising, to support our worthy cause.

Windsor you did us proud, raising so much money, with your infectious high energy humour and impressive dance moves.

The vodka jellies, photobooth, human fruit machine, awesome cocktail station and amazing cupcakes tempting you. We had every angle and taste covered to entice you to spend.

So now it’s down to the true grit of climbing the five peaks. To increase the running total and beat what we raised last time.

We’re raising money for an amazing and selfless charity, that serves those in hours of need. Cancer effects one in three people, scary stats on day to day life, that’s a 1000 people a day in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer.
Please support us, we will be climbing five mountains over the next few days, starting with Snowden tomorrow. The weather has turned hot again, so more challenging times ahead.

I’ll leave you with a picture of the fund raising night, if you like to sponsor us, here’s the link :-
